The Lakewood Leopards's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They fell just short of Clinton by a score of 50-47. If Lakewood was looking for revenge after losing 54-53 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.
When it comes to explaining why Lakewood lost, one person who can't be blamed is Cameron Williams. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Juan Parker Jr., who scored six points.
Clinton was led to victory by Camden Davis and Gregory Coxum. Davis scored 15 points, while Coxum scored 15 points along with six rebounds. Davis continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Walker Spell, who scored three points along with three steals.
Lakewood has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season. As for Clinton, they now have a winning record of 7-6.
Lakewood will be playing in front of their home fans against the Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Neuse Charter is no doubt hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses. As for Clinton, they will head out on the road to take on the Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. St. Pauls has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 28.
