After both having extra time off, the Maxwell Bears and the Des Moines Demons will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
On Tuesday, Maxwell came up short against Cimarron and fell 3-1. While the Bears didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Rams 25-20 in the first set.
Maxwell started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 20-25, 25-17, 25-16, 25-12.
Meanwhile, after a string of ten wins, Des Moines' good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell just short of Roy/Mosquero by a score of 3-2. While the Demons didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Blue/Lady Blue 25-16 in the first set.
Des Moines actually scored more points across those five sets (107-105), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The match finished with set scores of 16-25, 29-27, 26-24, 19-25, 15-6.
Maxwell's defeat dropped their record down to 8-12. As for Des Moines, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 14-5.
