The Esperanza Aztecs's four-game losing streak came to an end on Friday. They came out on top against El Modena by a score of 59-49. That's another feather in the cap for Esperanza, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Esperanza to victory, but perhaps none more so than Stephan Esparza, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Esparza continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Vincent Garza, who scored 15 points along with two steals.
Esperanza's win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-14. As for El Modena, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-12.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Esperanza will stay at home for another game and welcome Brea Olinda at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th. Brea Olinda is coming into the game on a six-game losing streak. As for El Modena, they will be playing at home against El Dorado at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. El Dorado is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 57 points per game.
