Rowland hasn't had much luck against Los Altos recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Raiders will head out on the road to challenge the Conquerors at 3:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Rowland not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 22, 2025 (when they won 13-0). Everything went their way against Nogales as they made off with a 14-5 win. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Raiders' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
Los Altos came out on top against Walnut on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run fourth inning. The Conquerors never let the Mustangs get on the board and left with a 16-0 victory. The Conquerors' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Kaylahni Duenas made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. Duenas was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one run. Those RBI were her first of the season.
In other batting news, Los Altos got a massive performance out of Payton Godinez, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Those RBI marked the first that Godinez has brought in this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Esme Soto, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
Los Altos always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .649. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Walnut only posted an OBP of .222.
The win made it two in a row for Los Altos and bumps their season record up to 2-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Rowland, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
Rowland couldn't quite get it done against Los Altos in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 as they fell 4-0. Can the Raiders avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
