The Western Plains Bobcats will be home for the holidays to greet the Golden Plains Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
Last Tuesday, Western Plains had to suffer through a rough 53-10 loss at the hands of Logan. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Western Plains in their matchups with Logan: they've now lost nine in a row.
Meanwhile, Golden Plains' recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their 20th straight loss dating back to last season. They fell 57-46 to Triplains/Brewster.
Despite the defeat, Golden Plains saw an underclassman step up: Dylan Wark scored 22 points along with eight steals. Wark scored a full 47.8% of Golden Plains' points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Josh Rath was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Western Plains' loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Golden Plains, their loss was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-3.
Western Plains was able to grind out a solid win over Golden Plains in their previous matchup back in February, winning 32-25. Does Western Plains have another victory up their sleeve, or will Golden Plains turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
