You're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out between Ukiah and Maria Carrillo. Ukiah took the contest and then some with a 70-35 victory on Friday over Maria Carrillo. Followers of Ukiah probably expected little less of the squad in a season in which they have collected four blowout victories.
Ukiah's offense rushed out of the gates and came up with 34 first-half points. Maria Carrillo countered with 20 points, leaving the score at 34-20 going into the half. Ukiah put the match away in the third quarter with 22 points from the offense and eight points allowed from the defense. The win bumped their record up to 5-1. The loss dropped Maria Carrillo back to even at 3-3.
Next week Ukiah take on Cardinal Newman at 7:30 PM. Since neither squad is a stranger to landslide victories this season, you'd better bet it will be hard-fought showdown. As for Maria Carrillo, they will face off against Analy. Given that they both suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
