Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only DeLand walked away with it. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat the Creekside Knights 70-21. The win was just business as usual for the Bulldogs, who after 11 games remain undefeated this season.
Marceles Carey continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 164 yards and three TDs, while also picking up 58 receiving yards. He also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making four total tackles and defending two passes in addition to snagging two interceptions which he returned for a touchdown. Taihj Moore was in the mix as well, providing DeLand with two touchdowns.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: DeLand was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 289 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 253 rushing yards in five consecutive games.
DeLand didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. Carey led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself. He got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
DeLand's record now sits at 11-0. As for Creekside, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-7.
Looking ahead, DeLand will take on Boone at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Braves' defense has only allowed 14.8 points per game this season, so the Bulldogs' offense will have their work cut out for them. Creekside does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
