The Beachside Barracudas are taking a road trip to face off against the St. Joseph Academy Flashes at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
On Tuesday, Beachside needed a bit of extra time to put away St. Augustine. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 13-11 win over the Yellow Jackets. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Barracudas.
Jonathan Alvarez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Alvarez was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with four RBI.
In other batting news, Fabian Madriz was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Gabe Gerhardt also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Beachside kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
St. Joseph Academy came out on top against Dunnellon on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run fourth inning. The Flashes put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 11-1 victory. The Flashes might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by seven runs or more this season.
St. Joseph Academy got a massive performance out of Cullen Garner, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Garrison Wade, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
Beachside's record now sits at 9-5. As for St. Joseph Academy, their record is now 8-3.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Monday. Beachside hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like St. Joseph Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Beachside came out on top in a nail-biter against St. Joseph Academy when the teams last played back in February of 2025, sneaking past 1-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Barracudas since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
