It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Hough Huskies had no problem doing just that on Friday. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 45-12 victory over Porter Ridge. The victory was familiar territory for Hough who now have 11 in a row.
Among those leading the charge was Jycen Anciso, who rushed for 57 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries, and also picked up 78 receiving yards. Trey Blakeney was another key contributor, throwing for 198 yards and two touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes.
Hough's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. Eli Anders was especially locked on to Porter Ridge's QB and sacked him twice.
Although Porter Ridge took the loss, they still got scores from Rai'Shawn Elmore and Jatavien Taylor.
Hough's win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 40.3 points per game. As for Porter Ridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-3.
Hough will head out on the road to face off against Grimsley at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Grimsley is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. Porter Ridge does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
