It's playoff time, and Morro Bay had no trouble coming through when it counted. They were the clear victors by a 52-28 margin over the Delano Tigers on Friday.
Sands Dougherty had another great game (as he tends to do), throwing for 458 yards and six TDs, while also punching in a pair of scores on the ground. What's more, he posted two rushing touchdowns, the most he's had since back in October of 2024. Trevor Riddiough did his part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 179 receiving yards.
Morro Bay didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Efrain Hernandez, Colton Rosenlieb, and Luca Macari picked up one apiece. Rosenlieb is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made six or more in each of the last six games he's played. Another thorn in Delano's side was Merrick Smith, who picked up a sack and made ten total tackles.
Delano's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Raul Quezada, who picked up 168 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns. 'DJ' Huizar was another key player, having thrown for 343 yards and three touchdowns.

Morro Bay's win ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-7. As for Delano, they dropped their record down to 4-7 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.
Coming up, Morro Bay will head out to take on Liberty at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Pirates will need to watch out since the Hawks have now posted at least 31 points in their last ten contests. Delano does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
