Cibola hasn't had much luck against Eldorado recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Cougars will host the Golden Eagles at 3:30 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Cibola is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against West Mesa on Tuesday as they made off with a 23-3 win. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.
Ryan Hutchinson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Cibola is 2-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 1-5 otherwise. Hutchinson was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2025.

In other batting news, Beau Segotta was excellent, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Dylan Gutierrez, who went 3-for-5 with five RBI, two doubles, and one run.
Cibola was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .531. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Eldorado faced Albuquerque in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Golden Eagles were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over the Bulldogs. The Golden Eagles haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.
The team relied heavily on Brady Bond, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. Timothy Kamphuis was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Eldorado's victory bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Cibola, their win bumped their record up to 3-6.
Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Cibola hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .326. However, it's not like Eldorado struggles in that department as they've averaged .404. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
