On Saturday, the Fishers Tigers faced the Hamilton Southeastern Royals in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Fishers fell just short of Hamilton Southeastern by a score of 70-67. It was the first time this season that Fishers let down their fans at home.
When it comes to explaining why Fishers lost, one person who can't be blamed is Talia Harris. Despite the final result, she scored 29 points along with nine rebounds and six assists. The game was Harris' fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Nevaeh Dickman, who scored 18 points.
Even though they lost, Fishers were working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hamilton Southeastern only racked up 20 assists.
It was another big night for Maya Makalusky, who scored 28 points along with seven rebounds for Hamilton Southeastern. That makes it 12 consecutive games in which Makalusky has scored at least 25% of Hamilton Southeastern's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayla Stidham, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds.
Fishers' loss ended an 11-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 9-4. As for Hamilton Southeastern, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fishers will challenge Carroll at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Carroll has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Hamilton Southeastern, they will head out on the road to face off against Cathedral at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Cathedral will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings (they are ranked 117th, while Hamilton Southeastern is ranked second).
