The Brunswick Pirates's nine-game losing streak came to an end on Tuesday. They strolled past South Effingham with points to spare, taking the game 62-48. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Brunswick also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2023.
Caleb Butler was his usual excellent self, scoring 20 points along with eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Craig Battle, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and six steals.
When it comes to explaining why South Effingham lost, one person who can't be blamed is Corbin McGuire. Despite the final result, he scored 13 points along with five rebounds. Aidan Harris was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with nine rebounds.
Brunswick's win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-13. As for South Effingham, they dropped their record down to 0-16 with that defeat, which was their 15th straight at home.
Brunswick will take on South Effingham at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully South Effingham focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Tuesday. As for they, they will head out on the road to take on Brunswick at 7:30 p.m. Brunswick knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three games -- so hopefully South Effingham likes a good challenge.
