Piedmont Classical scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They really took it to College Prep & Leadership Academy for the full four quarters, racking up a 71-40 win on the road. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Piedmont Classical has posted since December 1, 2023.
Ge'Kayla Goins continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 28 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Tamia Carter was another key contributor, scoring 17 points.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Bethany beat Cornerstone Charter 34-30 on Thursday. That's two games straight that Bethany has won by exactly four points.
Bethany can attribute much of their success to Braelyn Pennix, who scored five points along with seven rebounds and seven steals, and Mattie Southard, who scored 18 points along with five steals and three blocks. Another player making a difference was Hattiejo Hopper, who scored four points along with four steals.
Piedmont Classical has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 5-7 record this season. As for Bethany, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-13.
Keep an eye on the arc in Tuesday's game: Piedmont Classical have been dynamite from deep this season, having only nailed 33.8% of their threes per game. It's a different story for Bethany, though, as they've only made 29.7% of their threes per game this season. Given Piedmont Classical's sizeable advantage in that area, Bethany will need to find a way to close that gap.
