Hopefully Langston Hughes focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Saturday.
Langston Hughes' game was all tied up 0-0 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 77-76 to Tucker. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Despite the defeat, Langston Hughes got a solid performance out of Brentis Schaeffer, who scored 34 points along with five rebounds. Schaeffer continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaron LeMelle, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Newnan unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell 61-54 to South Paulding.
Langston Hughes has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-5 record this season. As for Newnan, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-7.
Everything came up roses for Langston Hughes against Newnan in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 as the team secured a 77-46 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Langston Hughes since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
