Basketball Recap: Riverbend's Run of Seven Straight Victories Now Over

After a string of seven wins, Riverbend's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell 69-62 to the Colonial Forge Eagles. If the Bears were looking for revenge after losing 56-46 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Riverbend's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Hubert King III (Tr?), who went 6 for 12 on his way to 22 points and eight boards. The match was King III (Tr?)'s third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Donovan Tate, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds.

Finn Perschau was his usual excellent self, going 9 of 15 en route to 25 points for Colonial Forge. That's the most points Perschau has posted since back in January of 2024. Taysean Jones was another key player, going 5 for 7 on his way to 11 points and seven boards.

Riverbend's defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 9-2. As for Colonial Forge, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-2.

Riverbend didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 56-51 loss against Massaponax on the 17th. As for Colonial Forge, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 46-38 win against North Stafford on the 17th.
