Ariton enjoyed a cozy 60-44 win over Barbour County. Given Ariton's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 170th, while Barbour County is ranked 404th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Ariton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ian Senn led the charge by scoring 14 points along with seven steals. The game was Senn's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Matthew McNair was another key contributor, scoring 19 points.
Ariton has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a massive bump to their 9-5 record this season. As for Barbour County, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-13.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ariton won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Elba at 7:00 p.m. on January 5th. As for Barbour County, they will head out on the road to face off against Bullock County at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. The timing is sure in Bullock County's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while Barbour County has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
