Cross County is on a four-game streak of home wins, while Wisner-Pilger is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Cross County Cougars will take on the Wisner-Pilger Gators at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Friday, Cross County faced Shelby-Rising City in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Cross County blew past Shelby-Rising City, posting a 46-8 victory at home.
Lucas Jacobsen was the offensive standout of the matchup as he rushed for 92 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries, and also threw for 42 yards and a touchdown while completing 83.3% of his passes. Jacobsen's longest rush was for an incredible 76 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashton Seim, who rushed for 82 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries.
Meanwhile, Wisner-Pilger humbled Lyons-Decatur Northeast with a 44-12 victory.
Their wins bumped Cross County to 8-0 and Wisner-Pilger to 5-3.
Cross County came up short against Wisner-Pilger in their previous matchup back in August of 2019, falling 32-24. Will Cross County have more luck at home instead of on the road?
