The Lyons Lions's road trip will continue as they head out to face the SkyView Academy Hawks at 7:30 p.m. on February 5th. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
A well-balanced attack led Lyons over the Mustangs in every quarter on their way to victory on Friday. Everything went Lyons' way against the Mustangs as the Lions made off with a 66-45 win. The victory was just what Lyons needed coming off of a 82-42 loss in their prior contest.
Lyons relied on the efforts of Davis Abernathy, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and five steals, and Caleb Christiansen, who scored 23 points along with two blocks. That makes it three consecutive games in which Christiansen has scored at least a third of Lyons' points. Payton Bolkovatz was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, SkyView Academy stacked a ninth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Saturday. They breezed by Union Colony Prep on the road to the tune of 84-34. Given SkyView Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 107th, while the Timberwolves are ranked 298th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Lyons' win bumped their record up to 4-11. As for SkyView Academy, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-3.
Lyons came up short against the Hawks when the teams last played back in February of 2023, falling 69-56. Thankfully for Lyons, Matt Fann (who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and four steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
