Ogden is 0-10 against Morgan since March of 2019 but things could change on Friday. The Tigers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Trojans at 3:30 p.m. Ogden is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.
Having struggled with six defeats in a row, Ogden turned things around against Ben Lomond on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 22-4 margin over the Scots. The high-scoring effort was just what the Tigers needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.
Ogden got a massive performance out of Sophia Edwards, who went 3-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those five RBI gave Edwards a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kassidy Waddell, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
Ogden always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .703. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Morgan entered their contest against Grantsville on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Trojans fell just short of the Cowboys by a score of 7-5.
Eva Birkeland spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on five hits and racked up six Ks.
On the hitting side, Lexi Hardman was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 5-for-5. She has been hot, having posted three or more hits the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Gwen Rickard, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Ogden's victory bumped their record up to 5-11. As for Morgan, their loss dropped their record down to 10-5.
Ogden's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's game. The Tigers have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Morgan, though, as they've been averaging only 1.3 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Ogden continue to outrun the ball?
Ogden suffered a grim 12-2 defeat to Morgan when the teams last played back in March. Will the Tigers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
