The Pinole Valley Spartans pushed their score all the way to 59 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 69-59 to Albany. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Thursday (58), Pinole Valley still had to take the loss.
When it comes to explaining why Pinole Valley lost, one person who can't be blamed is Chriseanie Nealy. Despite the final result, he scored 24 points along with seven assists. The match was Nealy's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Romyn Waugh, who scored 12 points.
Pinole Valley now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Albany, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 8-2.
Pinole Valley and Oakland will face off at 9:00 a.m. on December 27th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Oakland knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matches -- so hopefully Pinole Valley likes a good challenge. Albany and Pasadena will round out the year against one another at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday at. Pasadena presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Albany in California (Pasadena is ranked 29th, while Albany is ranked 363rd).
