Northfield proved they can win big last Wednesday (they won by 21) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 victory over the Madison-Grant Argylls. The Norsemen's win was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.
Gemma Haupert made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits. Haupert was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Haupert wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ali Copeland, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI. That's the most RBI Copeland has posted since back in April of 2025.
Northfield's record now sits at 3-0. As for Madison-Grant, they dropped their record down to 1-6 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
