There wasn't a ton of movement in the power rankings this week, but there was certainly enough to keep things interesting. We'll tackle that and more in this week's report.
Banging Down the Door
The power rankings welcomes a newcomer to the scene as Long Reach earned the 25th spot after its strong showing last week. It won an extremely close contest against Atholton with a final score of 14 - 13. No one had a larger role in the success than senior Kadarrian Booker, who brought his A game into the contest. He earned one touchdown and 117 yards rushing the ball.
Have a Day
Dunbar got a 58 - 18 win over Patterson last week, and a key reason for the win was senior Jared Lewis. Lewis threw for 365 yards and three touchdowns. In fact, our algorithms singled out Lewis as one of the top players in the power rankings for the week.
Points Galore
Milford Mill Academy gave both Dulaney and its quarterback (sacked ten times) a rough time last week. Milford Mill Academy picked up a decisive 'W' against Dulaney, finishing up at 57 - 22. Milford Mill Academy found its leader in an underclassman: Rishon Holmes ran for 104 yards and also punched in three touchdowns, which was enough to make him one of the team's best players. The combined 79-point effort made this the highest-scoring game in the power rankings for the week.
Upcoming Drama
If you are itching to watch a first-rate contest, no game is supposed to fit the bill better than the one between McDonogh (2nd in the power rankings) and St. Frances Academy (1st). McDonogh will be sulking in after a defeat while St. Frances Academy will strut in boosted by a win. We'll see if McDonogh can take the spring out of St. Frances Academy's step after its victory or if St. Frances Academy will hand McDonogh another loss.
