The Pawnee Heights Tigers were the 79-68 winner over the Bucklin Red Aces when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Pawnee Heights might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Bucklin an easy 72-48 win. Pawnee Heights has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Pawnee Heights lost on Tuesday despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Davin Hamby, who scored 14 points along with three steals. The game was Hamby's sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Reed Stedje, who scored four points along with 11 rebounds.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Bucklin to victory, but perhaps none more so than Andrew Bowman, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds. Kaden Tilley was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with five rebounds and five blocks.
Pawnee Heights bumped their record down to 2-5 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Bucklin, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 4-3 record this season.
After both having extra time off, Pawnee Heights and Spearville will dust off their jerseys to challenge one another at 8:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Spearville presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Pawnee Heights in Kansas (Spearville is ranked 146th, while Pawnee Heights is ranked 293rd). Bucklin will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Attica at 8:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
