The Owen Warhorses's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They took a serious blow against Mitchell, falling 70-39. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Owen has suffered against Mitchell since February 3, 2021.
Despite the loss, Owen still got an impressive performance from Ellie Martin, who scored seven points along with nine steals and five assists.
Owen dropped their record down to 3-15 with that loss, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Mitchell, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-9.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Owen will take on Mountain Heritage at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Mountain Heritage knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 12 matchups -- so hopefully Owen likes a good challenge. As for Mitchell, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Draughn at 6:00 p.m. on January 30th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in North Carolina (Draughn is ranked 326th, while Mitchell is ranked 317th).
