It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Elgin had no problem doing just that on Friday. They took their game with ease, bagging a 52-6 victory over the Cushing Tigers. Ritson Meyer went supernova, rushing for 97 yards and four TDs. The team also got some help courtesy of Gage Elam, who rushed for 142 yards on only 14 carries.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Elgin was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 340 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cushing only rushed for 49.
Elgin's win bumped their record up to 13-0. As for Cushing, they moved to 11-2 with that loss, which also ended their ten-game winning streak.
