In what's become a running theme this season, the John Paul II Golden Warrriors gave their fans yet another huge victory on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Thomas Heyward Academy 62-13 on the road. Given John Paul II's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 64th, while Thomas Heyward Academy is ranked 275th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Brady Mahoney, who dropped a double-double on 28 points and 15 rebounds. She has been hot recently, having posted 16 or more points the last six times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lauren Majorkiewicz, who scored ten points along with three steals.
John Paul II's win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-5. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.4 points per game. As for Thomas Heyward Academy, they are on a 12-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-14.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. John Paul II will face off against Hilton Head Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. John Paul II knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matchups -- so hopefully Hilton Head Christian Academy likes a good challenge. As for Thomas Heyward Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Cross at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Cross will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something Thomas Heyward Academy surely won't give up without a fight.
