Basketball Recap: Delta Starts Season with Victory on the Road

Delta had to kick off their season on the road on Thursday, but they showed no ill effects. They breezed past the Muncie Central Bearcats to the tune of 67-22. With the Eagles ahead 36-10 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Jillian Barr went supernova, almost dropping a triple-double with 23 points, ten boards, and nine steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in each of the last eight games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Addison Barnes, who shot 50% from the field en route to 22 points and five steals.

Despite the loss, Muncie Central saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Kei'Maija Hickey posted seven points.

Looking ahead, Delta will look to takes advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they takes on Alexandria-Monroe at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Muncie Central, they are taking a road trip to face off against Marion at 7:30 p.m. on the 14th. This will be the Bearcats' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
