The Avon Eagles will be playing at home against the Steele Comets at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Avon focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Saturday.
Last Saturday, Avon was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 56-52 to Midview. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Avon in their matchups with Midview: they've now lost five in a row.
Despite the loss, Avon got a solid performance out of Molly Drenik, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Drenik has scored all season. Grace Mangan was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Steele can now show off four landslide victories after their most recent match on Monday. They blew past Normandy 51-27. Given Steele's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 182nd, while Normandy is ranked 437th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Avon's defeat dropped their record down to 8-6. As for Steele, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-5.
Avon couldn't quite finish off Steele in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 and fell 59-56. Will Avon have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other basketball content.
