The Bear River Bears will head out on the road to take on the Ridgeline Riverhawks at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Ridgeline will face off against a team with plenty of momentum: Bear River extended their winning streak to seven on Wednesday. The Bears never let Green Canyon get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory.
Kate Wilson looked comfortable as she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Londyn Gamble was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Kendyl Archibald also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Bear River kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 13 hits in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last contest, Ridgeline made sure to put some runs up on the board against Sky View on Friday. The Riverhawks blew past the Bobcats 22-4. The Riverhawks' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Brielle Gardiner made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Gardiner was also big at the plate, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, five RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, Ridgeline got a massive performance out of Anne Wallace, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three RBI and one stolen base. Kylie Jorgensen was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.
Bear River pushed their record up to 14-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Ridgeline, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season.
Tuesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Bear River hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .389. However, it's not like Ridgeline struggles in that department as they've averaged .317. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Bear River came out on top in a nail-biter against Ridgeline when the teams last played two weeks ago, sneaking past 4-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bears since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
