If Eastside wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Highland, they should've done a better job of containing Jalen 'Hollywood' Wyatt. The Bulldogs simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat the Lions 49-6 thanks in part to Wyatt, who threw for 184 yards and three touchdowns on only 12 passes, and also punched in one TD on the ground. His passing game has become a key predictor of Highland's success: the team is 2-1 when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-3 otherwise.
Highland didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Nethanyel Simpkins, Noah Gassoway, Arturo 'AC' Carrillo, and Tyrell 'Ty' Pullum picked up one apiece. Carrillo is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made five or more in each of the last four games he's played. Simpkins got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Although Eastside took the loss, they still got scores from Sior Gilkey and Vincente Mendoza.
