Basketball Recap: Cahokia's Win Ends 12-Game Losing Streak at Home

Normandy came into Thursday's contest looking for another win against Cahokia, but Cornelius Griffin wouldn't allow it. The Cahokia Comanches secured a 65-61 W over the Normandy Vikings on Thursday thanks in part to Griffin, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 boards. That's the most points he has posted since back in December of 2023.

Cahokia's win ended a 12-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 5-5. As for Normandy, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cahokia won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Centralia at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Cahokia knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five games -- so hopefully Centralia likes a good challenge. As for Normandy, they will also get right back to it: they'll challenge Confluence Prep Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Normandy is facing Confluence Prep Academy at the right time seeing as Confluence Prep Academy is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
