The Heritage Academy Gateway Heroes will head out to challenge the Maricopa Institute of Technology Iron Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Heritage Academy Gateway is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 13.2 runs per game this season.

Heritage Academy Gateway is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Canyon State Academy with a sharp 21-6 win on Wednesday.

Braden Whittman made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. He also hit two doubles, marking his first of the season.

In other batting news, Nolen Holliday was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3. Holliday is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Maxwell Withers, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4.

Heritage Academy Gateway was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .594. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Maricopa Institute of Technology's offense. They fell just short of East Valley Athletes for Christ by a score of 1-0 on Thursday. The loss was the Iron Eagles' first of the season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Maricopa Institute of Technology fell to 1-1-2. As for Heritage Academy Gateway, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.

Heritage Academy Gateway beat Maricopa Institute of Technology 7-3 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Heritage Academy Gateway since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
