On Friday, Scammon Bay earned a 64-52 win over Shishmaref. Given Scammon Bay's advantage in MaxPreps' Alaska basketball rankings (they are ranked fifth, while Shishmaref is ranked 47th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Scammon Bay was led to victory by Stewie Sundown and Josiah Sundown. Sundown scored 19 points, while Sundown scored 26 points. Sundown hasn't dropped below 15points for three straight games.
Several Northern Lights players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Fred Olanna, who scored 17 points. That's the first time this season that Olanna scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Ivan Davis-Nayokpuk, who scored 13 points.
Scammon Bay's victory bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Shishmaref, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.
