The Grant Lancers came tearing into Friday's game with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.4 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 65-53 victory over Kennedy. Given Grant's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 218th, while Kennedy is ranked 751st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Grant to victory were WILLIAM OVERTON and Omree Bentov. OVERTON dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds, while Bentov scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and two blocks. OVERTON hasn't dropped below two blocks for six straight games. RONALD MERRILL was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with two steals.
Grant has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 16 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 22-6 record this season. As for Kennedy, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-11.
Grant will head out on the road to face off against Birmingham at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Grant has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 423 points over their last six games. Kennedy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
