Papillion-LaVista is 1-9 against Millard South since April of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Monarchs will venture away from home to challenge the Patriots at 11:00 a.m. Papillion-LaVista's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Millard South's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Papillion-LaVista was handed a seven-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Friday. They skirted past Lincoln Northeast 5-3.
Brett Hoelscher looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Easton Schneider, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Ryan Thompson was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one triple.
Papillion-LaVista kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Millard South entered their tilt with Fremont on Friday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victors by an 11-3 margin over the Tigers. Considering the Patriots have won 15 matches by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Tyler Albert spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on four hits and racked up ten Ks.
On the hitting side, Brady Perich was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Braden Swaney, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.
Papillion-LaVista is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a massive bump to their 19-11 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Millard South, their record now sits at 23-9.
Papillion-LaVista skirted past Millard South 6-4 when the teams last played two weeks ago. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Monarchs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
