The Robertson Cardinals had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24.3 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Thursday. They strolled past Farwell with points to spare, taking the game 65-51. Given Robertson's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 15th in New Mexico, while Farwell is ranked 598th in Texas), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Robertson's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Nathaniel Gonzales led the charge by scoring 17 points. Mateo Contreras was another key contributor, scoring 18 points.
Robertson pushed their record up to 9-1 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.0 points per game. As for Farwell, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-9 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Robertson will challenge Pojoaque Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Farwell, they will head out on the road to face off against Spearman at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
