Madison East hasn't had much luck against Janesville Parker recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Purgolders will challenge the Vikings at 7:00 p.m. Madison East will be strutting in after a win while Janesville Parker will be coming in after a defeat.
Madison East was handed a three-set loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Thursday. They skirted past Madison La Follette 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Purgolders have posted since September 9th.
Madison East wouldn't go down easily and took Madison La Follette into a fifth set where they got it done with a 13-point win. The final score came out to 25-17, 23-25, 12-25, 25-18, 15-2.
Madison East can attribute much of their success to Anya Bosmans, who had 13 digs and three aces, and Lila Scott, who had seven kills, five aces, four digs, and one block. That's the most digs Bosmans has posted since back in September. Sheila Gandjui also deserves some recognition as she had her first kill of the season.
They weren't the only good servers: Madison East was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 14 aces. They are 5-1 when they serve at least ten aces.
Meanwhile, Janesville Parker came up short against Sun Prairie East on Monday and fell 3-1. The defeat continues a trend for the Vikings in their meetings with the Cardinals: they've now lost three in a row.
The match finished with set scores of 25-12, 25-27, 25-21, 25-13.
Madison East's win ended a four-match drought on the road and puts them at 7-21. As for Janesville Parker, their loss dropped their record down to 4-19.
Madison East might still be hurting after the 3-0 defeat they got from Janesville Parker in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. Can the Purgolders avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
