Carter had already won four in a row and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They came out on top against the Morristown-Hamblen East Hurricanes by a score of 10-6. For the Hornets, this counts as revenge for the 4-2 win the Hurricanes walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2025.
Kingston Griph and Mayson Lang were major factors no matter where they played. On the mound, Griph tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off four hits. Meanwhile, Lang didn't allow a single earned run over 7.2 innings pitched. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. At bat, Griph went 3-for-6 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI, while Lang got on base in three of his six plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Carter is undefeated when Lang posts two or more runs, but 5-10 otherwise.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jeremiah Evans, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Carter's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 8-10 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Chandler Bowman, who went 3-for-6 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Carter kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.5 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 8.8.
Carter's record is now 12-10. As for Morristown-Hamblen East, they dropped their record down to 6-15 with the defeat, which was their eighth straight at home.
Coming up, Carter will take on Midway at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Green Wave have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.92 runs per game on average), something the Hornets will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Morristown-Hamblen East, they will challenge Cocke County at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
