Make it six blowout wins for the Marcellus Mustangs this season. Everything went their way against Utica Academy of Science on Sunday as Marcellus made off with a 64-40 win. The victory was nothing new for Marcellus as they're now sitting on three straight.
It was another big night for Will Burnett, who scored 20 points along with nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Tucker Burnett was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with nine assists and seven rebounds.
Despite the loss, Utica Academy of Science still got an impressive performance from Akol Machteng, who scored 20 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Machteng continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamir Bowles, who scored eight points.
Utica Academy of Science struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Marcellus racked up 16 assists.
Marcellus pushed their record up to 12-1 with that victory, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 23.5 points. As for Utica Academy of Science, their loss dropped their record down to 1-9.
Marcellus will head out on the road to challenge Bishop Kearney at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Bishop Kearney will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New York Rankings (they are ranked 316th, while Marcellus is ranked 12th). Utica Academy of Science won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Bishop Grimes at 2:00 p.m. on January 15th.
