Resurrection Christian is a perfect 4-0 against Basalt since May of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Cougars will head out to take on the Longhorns at 10:00 a.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Resurrection Christian has three straight wins, Basalt has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Thursday, Resurrection Christian got the win against Fort Morgan by a conclusive 14-3. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by eight runs or more this season.

Braedyn Budd made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 12 over six innings pitched. Those 12 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.
In other batting news, Colton Barber was incredible, going 3-for-5 with four runs, three doubles, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Resurrection Christian's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 5-1 (and 5-7 when he doesn't). Carter Emslie was another key player, going 3-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Resurrection Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Basalt started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against Delta. They fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 8-6 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Longhorns have suffered since April 12, 2025.
Ryder Hutchinson made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Shan Donnelly, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Resurrection Christian's record is now 10-8. As for Basalt, their loss dropped their record down to 7-11.
Everything went Resurrection Christian's way against Basalt when the teams last played back in May of 2025, as Resurrection Christian made off with a 7-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cougars since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
