The Lewiston Tigers's game on Tuesday was all tied up 11-11 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They fell just short of Southern by a score of 29-27. Lewiston was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Southern apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played last Friday.
Lewiston's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Justice Currie, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine steals. Currie is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed four or more in the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Maddie Janssen, who scored 11 points along with three steals.
Lewiston's defeat was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-18. As for Southern, their win ended a 11-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-17.
Lewiston does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Southern, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Thayer Central at 6:15 p.m. on February 9th. Thayer Central presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Southern in Nebraska (Thayer Central is ranked 93rd, while Southern is ranked 270th).
