The Lyons Lions's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fourth straight loss. They fell 63-56 to Peetz. While losing is never fun, Lyons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 296th, while Peetz is ranked 135th).
Despite the loss, Lyons still got an impressive performance from Caleb Christiansen, who scored 29 points along with five assists and four steals. Christiansen scored a full 51.8% of Lyons' points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Payton Bolkovatz was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Lyons bumped their record down to 1-6 with that loss, which was their third straight at home. That rough patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.3 points per game. As for Peetz, their win bumped their record up to 6-2.
Lyons won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Denver Christian at 7:00 p.m. on January 9th. Denver Christian will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak. Peetz is on the road again on Wednesday and play against Arickaree at 5:30 p.m. on January 10th. One thing working in Arickaree's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five games.
