High school basketball: Top-ranked senior Tyran Stokes enrolls at Rainier Beach

Nation's top prospect averaged 21.0 points, 9.3 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game at Notre Dame last season.

Tyran Stokes, the No. 1 high school basketball player in the Class of 2026, has enrolled at Rainier Beach (Seattle, Wash.) according to a report by Tarek Fattal.

Stokes had reportedly withdrawn from Notre Dame (Sherman Oaks, Calif.) on Nov. 5 after facing disciplinary issues for altercations with students.

The 6-foot-7 forward earned first team MaxPreps Junior All-America honors last season with averages of 21.0 points, 9.3 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game. He posted 17 double-doubles and led Notre Dame to an appearance in the Open Division state semifinals.

Prior to his junior campaign, Stokes spent his first two years of high school at Prolific Prep, where he earned MaxPreps Freshman and Sophomore All-America honors.

Rainier Beach was already expected to be the team to beat in Washington this season. The Vikings debuted at No. 46 in the Preseason MaxPreps Top 100.

The Vikings are the reigning Class 3A state champions and have a strong mix of key returners and newcomers. Brothers Marques and Micah I’ll Menesse are among the top players coming back while freshman J.J. Crawford, the son of Jamal Crawford, brings high expectations in his debut season.

Rainier Beach, which has won nine state titles under head coach Mike Bethea since 1998, is scheduled to begin the season with a home contest against Kennedy Catholic (Burien, Wash.) on Nov. 29. Out-of-state games include matchups against Bishop McNamara (Forestville, Md.), Duncanville (Texas) and Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.).
