If the MaxPreps state rankings hold true, the near future looks bright for Alvarado. They hope to keep the momentum going despite having enjoyed some extra time before their next match against Hillcrest at 7:30 PM on Friday. Alvarado know how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully Hillcrest like a good challenge.
Alvarado brought a two-game winning streak into their game against Carter two weeks ago; they left with a three-game streak. Alvarado blew past Carter 35-6. No one put up better numbers for Alvarado than senior Andrew Barajas, who brought his A game into the match. He rushed for 234 yards and 3 touchdowns. This marked the 5th matchup in which Barajas has rushed for over 100 yards.
Meanwhile, Hillcrest took a serious blow against Carter last Thursday, falling 13-69. Hillcrest were in a tough position by the half, with the score sitting at 6-50.
Alvarado's win lifted them to 3-4 while Hillcrest's defeat dropped them down to 2-6. We'll see if Alvarado can repeat their recent success or if Hillcrest bounce back and reverse their fortune.
