The Chester Yellowjackets can finally bid farewell to their six-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They walked away with a 45-35 victory over Sparta. That's another feather in the cap for Chester, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Chester found their leader in underclassman Lexie Mott, who scored 23 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Despite the loss, Sparta still got an impressive performance from Kenzie Pierce, who scored 22 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Pierce has scored all season. Maria Sangurima was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Chester's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 14-16. As for Sparta, their loss was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-19.
Chester will face off against Anna-Jonesboro at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Chester has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. Sparta does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
