There's no place like home for the Yucaipa Thunderbirds, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Wednesday. They walked away with a 56-44 win over Cajon on Friday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Yucaipa also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2023.
Yucaipa was led to victory by Jonathan Campbell and Malik Young. Campbell scored 14 points, while Young scored 20 points. That makes it four consecutive games in which Young has scored at least a third of Yucaipa's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tristan Doty, who scored eight points.
Yucaipa's victory bumped their record up to 9-12. As for Cajon, their defeat was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 7-13.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Yucaipa will take on Jurupa Hills at 10:30 a.m. on Monday. One thing working in Jurupa Hills' favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five games. As for Cajon, they will be playing at home against Beaumont at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Beaumont focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up five on Friday.
