Gospel Light Christian waltzed into their contest on Friday with three straight wins but they left with four. They blew past Westwood Baptist Academy 49-26. That's another feather in the cap for Gospel Light Christian, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Gospel Light Christian found their leader in underclassman Maggie Jo Church, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 18 rebounds. Church hasn't dropped below 12 rebounds for three straight games. Noelle Nelson was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with two steals.
Despite the loss, Westwood Baptist Academy still got an impressive performance from Katie Gross, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and two blocks. That was a full 57.7% of Westwood Baptist Academy's points, marking the 11th time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Gospel Light Christian has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-10 record this season. As for Westwood Baptist Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 10-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gospel Light Christian is on the road again on Tuesday and plays the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on February 6th. Westwood Baptist Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on the Camels at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
