The New Hanover Wildcats put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Topsail 65-23 at home. New Hanover has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 14 contests by 21 points or more this season.
New Hanover's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zeus Batts, who scored nine points along with eight assists and five rebounds. It was the first time this season that Batts posted eight or more assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Nolan Billings, who scored 11 points.
Topsail's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Spencer Henry, who scored seven points, and Sean Sapungan who scored four points along with two blocks. It was the first time this season that Sapungan posted two or more blocks.
New Hanover's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-0. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.7 points per game. As for Topsail, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. New Hanover will take on the Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. South Brunswick has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 21. As for Topsail, they will head out on the road to face off against the Scorpions at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. North Brunswick is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 70.9 points per game this season.
