The Madison Dragons are taking a road trip to challenge the Newman Grove/St. Edward Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Madison will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more points each game than the last.
Madison took a loss when they played away from home last Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 52-26 margin over Twin River. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 32-12.

It was another big night for Bodonn Sweeney, who rushed for 195 yards and five scores while picking up 8.5 yards per carry, and also threw for 158 yards and one touchdown on only nine passes. Those five rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Madison was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 246 rushing yards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their rushing yard total in four consecutive matchups.
Madison didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Izac Zautke and Sweeney. Sweeney continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played.
Meanwhile, Newman Grove/St. Edward played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 66-18 loss at the hands of Clarkson/Leigh. The last quarter was a mere formality, since the game's final score was reached by the end of the third quarter.
Madison will have to keep a close watch on Parker Fitchner and Griffin Nelson, a pair of players who had a big impact on Newman Grove/St. Edward's prior game. Fitchner picked up 118 receiving yards and a pair of TDs, while Nelson threw for 195 yards and three touchdowns.
Newman Grove/St. Edward's defeat dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Madison, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-6.
Everything came up roses for Madison against Newman Grove/St. Edward in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 58-20 win. In that contest, the Dragons amassed a halftime lead of 36-6, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Thursday.
